We need your support at the AGM to ensure that we comply with the legal quorum requirements in terms of our constitution. But we would be pleased if you attend so that you can voice your opinions and cast your vote for the new committee. A healthy club needs the support of members in order to be effective. 

 

BYOB – Bring Your Old Books, CD’s and DVD’s. You can buy, sell, bargain ............ for some great old materials! 

 

There will also be a RAFFLE for recently published books received from the publishers.

Teaching English through Kinaesthetic Activities

 

People learn in different ways and teaching is most effective when it matches the students’ learning style preferences. The most popular analysis pinpoints three learning styles: visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. Since most learners are kinaesthetic and since they have been catered for least in the traditional curriculum, it may be worth concentrating on the ‘K area’. 

 

Let’s get physical and dive into a highly interactive and fun workshop, which is bound to recharge your teaching batteries! 

 

Presenter - Monica Hoogstad, The English Channel (http://www.the-english-channel.de) Monica is a freelance Business Communications Consultant and a Teacher Trainer with over 20 years’ experience in ELT. Her interests are NLP & Multiple Intelligences, the cognitive function of metaphor, teaching while having fun (and the other way around).

This three-day seminar will focus on three main areas: teaching English for negotiations, meetings, and for networking and socialising. Mark Powell is well known both for his astuteness as a teacher trainer and for his highly entertaining style. 

 

(Note from Mark: anyone who has done the Cert IBET with him in the last few years may find that there is a certain amount of repetition.) 

 

Maximum no. of participants: 16 

Fee: EUR 450 per participant, including coffee at breaks and lunch. A deposit of EUR 100 is required to secure your place.

The course designer and trainer is Mark Powell. Mark has 20 years' General and Business English teaching experience (much of it in one-to-one) and is one of the world's leading Business English teacher developers, having trained over 500 teachers for the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry Certificate in Teaching English for Business, LCCI CertTEB (now available here at Oxford TEFL).

 

He is also a regular presenter at international ELT conferences and the author of several bestselling Business English books including In Company, Presenting in English, New Business Matters and Dynamic Presentations.
