Workshop in co-operation with elc - European Language Competence With Judith Mader and Rudi Camerer.
Repeating last year’s workshop, to which many people could not come due to the snow.
There is no doubt that language and culture are inextricably connected, but how many language teachers really feel qualified to teach intercultural communicative competence and use knowledge of intercultural theory in language classes? Does knowing about the findings of Hofstede and Trompenaars, being able to define low-context cultures, collectivist societies etc. make language classes more meaningful?
We will outline a course we have developed for German chambers of commerce and hand out and work with training material that has proved effective in several training sessions.
Biodata
Judith Mader comes from the North of England and has lived in Germany for over 25 years. She has worked in many areas of ELT, including full-time as a test developer for telc - The European Language Certificates. She is Head of Languages at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Business and also a senior consultant to elc – European Language Competence in Frankfurt.
Rudi Camerer lived and worked in the US, Britain and much of Europe for several years. He directed the head office of telc – The European Language Certificates before establishing his own consultancy elc – European Language Competence in Frankfurt am Main

With Jill Anderton
Everyone has the possibility to use their voice expressively and powerfully. If your voice fails you, in any way, this is because tensions have constricted and blocked your voice. The first stage of voice development is freeing it of any tensions. This workshop will cover some techniques to free up vocal tension and develop more presence in the voice.
