In the first part of his presentation, David Cotton will discuss some of the key ideas which influenced the writing of the successful general adult course, Language Leader, using extracts from the course books. He will highlight the features which differentiate Language Leader from other course books which target this sector of the market.

 

He will then move on to talk about Market Leader Third Edition. The intermediate level of the new edition will be published early in 2010. He will focus on the business materials which have been added to increase the authority and authenticity of the course. He will illustrate his points with examples from the coursebook and video extracts.

 

Biodata: David Cotton has over 30 years experience of teaching and training in ESP, EFL and English for Business, and is the author of numerous business English titles, including Agenda, World of Business, International Business Topics, Terms of Trade and Keys to Management. He is also one of the authors of the best-selling Business Class, and co-author of Market Leader and New Edition Market Leader, published by Pearson Longman. He is now writing in the area of general English, and is co-author of a new series of course books for adult learners of English entitled Language Leader, published by Pearson Longman in 2008. Previously Senior Lecturer in the English Language Centre of London Metropolitan University, he is currently a full-time writer of EFL course books. He is also a frequent speaker at international conferences.
